Lathyrus latifolius
Plant number: 1.312.050A perennial cousin to the annual Sweet Pea with large clusters of showy flowers ranging from white to pink, rose and lavender-mauve. Unfortunately, these are not fragrant, but are excellent for cutting and can also be dried. Plants form a sprawling or climbing clump of dark green leaves. Useful on dry, sunny slopes. Drought tolerant. This has escaped into roadside areas in certain parts of the country. If self seeding is a concern, plants may be clipped back hard after flowering, to prevent seeds from forming.
