It forms a mound of leathery-looking grey-green leaves that are spotted with beet-red markings after the second year. Fragrant creamy-white flowers are held aloft on tall stems during the summer. Heat and humidity tolerant. Dies completely back to the ground in winter. Superb and bizarre, a nice specimen plant for containers, in the rock garden or well-drained border.
