Plant number: 1.328.030An outstanding and easy-to-grow selection of the eastern native Cardinal Flower. This emerges with maroon leaves in spring, which age to a blend of olive green and bronze. Taller stems appear in mid to late summer, holding spikes of bright scarlet-red trumpets that are a magnet for hummingbirds. Long-lived and happy in average to moist soil. This is by far the most "growable" Cardinal Flower yet to be introduced. Discovered as a seedling by a nursery in Pennsylvania. A 2009 introduction from Plants Nouveau.
