Upright sprays of nodding, cup-shaped greenish flowers appear in early spring, flushed with purple. Performs best in regions with a mild maritime climate. Gardeners in colder climates would be wise to mulch around the base of the clump with leaves in very late fall. Plants should be trimmed only right after blooming, if at all.
