Baptisia ‘Purple Smoke’

False Indigo

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.095.200

A recent introduction from the North Carolina Botanical Garden, this exciting hybrid offers great potential as a specimen plant. It forms a tall, bushy mound of grey-green foliage, with long spikes of smoky violet-blue and purple flowers, held on black stems. A good substitute for Lupines, in areas where they are difficult to grow. Makes an excellent cut-flower, and is also attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant, once established. Plants may be increased by dividing in spring, every 4 to 5 years.
