(= L. ocymifolia) Lion's-tail is a South African plant, usually grown in tubs and other containers for its stunning display in late summer and fall. Plants form a bushy, upright mound of bright green leaves, producing tall spikes of bright orange flowers, arranged around the stem in shaggy pompoms. Prefers a full-sun location for best flowering. Terrific for cutting, and attractive to hummingbirds. Mother plants may be wintered indoors just like a Fuchsia, and cuttings taken in late winter will root in a few weeks time. Seldom available, this plant is a must-have for the serious collector.
