Yucca rostrata ‘Sapphire Skies’

Sapphire Skies Yucca

USDA Zone: 5-9

Plant number: 1.575.420

Yucca are also known as Adam’s Needle. This is a terrific plant for problem sunny areas with dry soil. It forms a large evergreen rosette of narrow sword-shaped leaves in a gorgeous steel-blue shade, looking like a big hedgehog. When mature, the plant produces a very tall spike loaded with big creamy-white flowers in mid to late summer. Needs excellent drainage. This species tends to grow a woody trunk at the base, and can get up to five feet tall after a number of years, looking like some sort of a bizarre palm tree. Generally does not require any pruning. Remove faded flower stems to the base after blooming, in late summer or fall. Selected by Cistus Nursery in Oregon.
