Sedum ‘Elsie’s Gold’

Autumn Stonecrop

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.486.180

Originating in New Zealand, this upright selection forms a bushy mound of succulent green leaves with edges that begin golden-yellow then by autumn age to cream. Taller stems appear in late summer, holding large clusters of soft shell-pink buds that open into starry flowers of deep magenta. These develop into rusty-brown seed heads with good winter interest. A magnet for butterflies. Pinch or prune plants back by half in June to force more compact growth, if desired. Trim back to the ground in early spring. Recent testing in the US has found this to be the most stable of the various variegated sports of Autumn Joy. Discovered and introduced by Lyndale Nurseries in Auckland, NZ. USPP#20368: unlicensed propagation prohibited. Registered with COPF.
