Salvia officinalis ‘Tricolor’
Tricolor Common Sage |
USDA Zone: 6-9 |
Plant number: 1.468.280
This selection of the Common Sage serves double duty in the garden, as both a culinary herb and an ornamental perennial. The leaves are boldly splashed with green, pink, cream and purple, forming a low evergreen mound. Spikes of violet-blue flowers appear in early summer. Excellent in mixed containers. May be wintered indoors in cold regions. Leaves may be used in cooking just the same as green-leaved Common Sage. Plants form a shrubby base and should be cut back in the spring to no less than 4 inches. Flowers are attractive to butterflies.
