Liriope spicata

Creeping Lily-turf is the hardiest species of Liriope, probably the best choice for Northern climates. Plants form a dense, spreading mound of grassy, dark-green foliage, changing to bronze in colder months. Short spikes of small, pale-lavender flowers appear in late summer. Excellent for edging or massing as a groundcover. Mow in early spring to encourage a dense habit, and generally tidy up the appearance. Clumps are easily divided in the spring. Tolerates a wide range of soil and light conditions, but prefers neutral to acidic soil. Heat and humidity tolerant.
