Japanese Iris have been treasured in Japan for centuries, with many excellent hybrids selected over time. They produce the largest flowers of all Irises, require neutral to acidic soil and lots of moisture until blooming time is over. Plants will be happy at the waterside, and can even be grown in pots sitting in water. This outstanding selection forms a vigorous clump of grassy-green leaves, bearing gigantic, fully-double flowers with each petal displaying a wide, purple edge that feathers into a white centre; a small yellow signal at the base. Great for cutting. Performs best if divided every 3 or 4 years in late summer. Fertilize spring and again just after flowering is over. A wonderful foliage accent. CAUTION: Harmful if eaten.
