This is the first hybrid False Indigo selection to be introduced from the Chicago Botanic Garden, part of the Prairieblues™ series. It forms a tall and bushy clump of healthy blue-green leaves, bearing long tapering spikes of violet purple flowers with yellow markings. Plants burst into flower towards late May, lasting for several weeks with nice foliage effect for the remainder of the season. Nice in the middle or back of a sunny border. Green seedpods develop in summer, maturing to charcoal black. These are useful in dried arrangements or for winter effect in the garden. A non-spreading plant that gets large, so allow plenty of space since plants resent being disturbed or moved once established. Long-lived and easy to grow. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, including summer drought. May well prove to be hardy in Zone 3 or colder. USPP#19011: unlicensed propagation prohibited.
