Astilbe japonica ‘Red Sentinel’

Japanese Astilbe

USDA Zone: 3-9

Plant number: 1.087.980

Astilbe are a popular choice for shady gardens, where they perform well if given a rich, moist soil and regular watering. This selection features very full scarlet-red plumes, over a bushy mound of elegant, lacy green leaves. Stems are a beautiful mahogany-red shade. Also thrives in tubs, or mixed containers. Fertilize in April and June. Excellent for cutting. Seed heads may be removed, or left on the plant for winter interest. Plants should be divided every 2 to 3 years, in early spring. May tolerate full sun in cool summer regions.
