Aquilegia vulgaris ‘White Barlow’

Columbines have been grown in gardens for centuries, and are among the most popular of perennials. This variation of the old-fashioned Granny’s Bonnet, also known as Ladies Petticoat or Doves of the Fountain, forms fully double, spurless white flowers. Foliage makes a low ferny mound of dark, grey-green leaves. Excellent for cutting. Wonderful in containers, the front of the border and in the woodland garden. Since Columbines are relatively short-lived, allow some of the plants to go to seed and self sow. Leaf miner or sawfly may disfigure the leaves around flowering time. Simply trim off the damaged foliage and the plants will produce fresh leaves.
