Also known as Madwort. This alpine or rock garden perennial forms a low shrubby mound of silvery-grey evergreen leaves, bearing masses of fragrant soft-yellow flowers in mid to late spring. Tolerant of hot, sunny sites with poor soil, so long as drainage is good. Best in the rock garden or growing in an alpine trough, gravel garden or scree. No pruning should be required, particularly in fall or spring. Said to be deer resistant. Plants may self-seed gently where happy.
