The dwarf form of a species native to eastern North America, this is one of the easier Penstemons to grow. It forms a low mat or mound of leathery dark-green leaves, with upright stems that bear tubular flowers, white on the inside and lavender on the outside. Very showy early summer display in the sunny rock garden. Foliage turns bronzy-red in winter. Drought tolerant once established. Prune off spent flower spikes after blooming.
