Lilium speciosum var. rubrum

Red Japanese Lily

USDA Zone: 4-9

Plant number: 1.319.300

The Japanese or Rubrum Lilies are later to bloom than other types, with intoxicatingly fragrant, nodding star-shaped flowers that are superb for cutting. Petals are a ruby red and soft pink combination. Prefers a rich, moist soil on the acidic side, with similar needs to Rhododendrons. Lilies are a good choice for tubs or mixed containers. Divide every three years in October, moving to a new location. Remove old stems in late fall to help discourage diseases. May need staking to prevent stems from breaking.
