Dianthus Star™ Single Eastern Star
Plant number: 1.180.510(=‘Red Dwarf’) A selection of the Border Pinks or Cheddar Pinks, a group of Dianthus that are a favourite for planting in rock gardens or using as a border edging. This British introduction forms a mound of grassy grey-green foliage, with an early summer display of fragrant cherry-red single flowers with a plum eye, and soft pink edges. Shear plants back lightly after blooming to maintain a tight, compact habit. Inclined to repeat flower in the fall. Plants require good drainage and are an excellent choice for hot dry sites or gravelly soils. Combines beautifully with other low alpine or edging plants. Attractive to butterflies. Evergreen.
